Our site was long overdue for a revamp… there’s no denying that. The handful of pages that made up our online presence was so far removed from what our small company has become, that it was misrepresentative of what the Loose Coconuts were about.
You know how it is. It’s a job that kept getting put off… there was always something that had a bit more priority. For good or bad (mostly good!), we tend to put an emphasis on client work above our internal stuff, so it was pretty easy to get into the position we’re in now.
Make no mistake, I was reminded about it constantly by Peter – sometimes gently, sometimes sarcastically, but mostly exasperatingly!
And start work on it, I did. A couple of times. In fact what you’re looking at now (as unfinished as it is) is probably version 5! The old problem of something else getting in the way always came up. So, the unfinished redesigns got put away temporarily only to be forgotten.
So for this one, I decided to just go ahead and make it active. As bad as it could potentially look, I knew this was the only way it could ever get done.
Have you ever had a friend who was building his own house, I mean building in a really hands on sort of way, and although it took a while and sometimes it looked like a mess, you’d always be able to go over and see how everything was going, and sometimes help out too? Well, this is that sort of thing. My Dad built our family home that way, and the walls of that house each have a story to tell, thanks to the many hands from friends who helped us build it. That’s what helped make it special, and in the same way, hopefully this site will be special too.
Although Textpattern, the content management system I’m using for this site does allow for commenting, I think it better that I keep it off, because I don’t know how often I’ll be able to monitor the site.
I’m always available by Email though, so if you want to pass on some suggestions or criticism regarding the site, then feel free to do so.
Thanks,
Rob.
